Sarah + Ben in Los Angeles, CA

Whenever we meet with our clients, we always ask them what they're most excited about for the wedding.  You know what they say?  Aside from the actual getting married part, everyone is always most excited for the people.  It's a pretty rare thing to have all the people in the world closest to you in the same place at the same time to celebrate you.  And Sarah and Ben have a pretty phenomenal group of people around them.  Their friend Sam wrote and officiated one of the most beautiful ceremonies we've seen, and it was obvious that these two come from very loving and supportive families.  I should know, Sarah's mom, Lyssa, taught me English in tenth grade, and she was one of my favorite teachers.  In that sense, I was also excited for this wedding because I got to see lots of familiar faces (and two of my other favorite teachers) from my high school.  But, enough about me.

Sarah and Ben were married at Occidental College, which provided a gorgeous setting, and we had a great time wandering the campus for portraits, especially since Sarah knew lots of secret spots.  And Ben and his groomsmen kept the dance floor packed all night long which made for a super fun party.  Congrats you two!

Frances + Joe in San Jose, CA

On their very first date at Pinkberry on Santana Row in San Jose, Frances and Joe had no way of knowing that Joe would eventually propose to Frances there, or that they would get married just a couple hundred feet away at the Hotel Valencia and have their wedding portraits taken on the very spot where Joe proposed under a tree in front of the same Pinkberry where they had their first date.  Okay that was a long sentence, but I had a lot of serendipity to pack in.  Especially because when we met they didn't have a venue, and it was only after going back to their spot that they settled on Hotel Valencia.  So, given their history, I fully expect Frances to give birth to their first child under the oak tree in front of Pinkberry on Santana Row.  I kid (pun intended), but isn't it crazy how things work out sometimes?

These two had a fun packed wedding starting with a tea ceremony and ending with a full dance floor.  They were so sweet to work with and a breeze to photograph!  Congratulations, Frances and Joe, and we wish you lots of happiness and lots of Pinkberry!

Alyssa + Drew in Berkeley, CA

Alyssa and Drew really turned on the waterworks during their ceremony at the Brazil Room in Tilden Regional Park.  Their crying though was a mix of tears with lots of laughter, and it's always so fun for us to see our couples this much in love.  Plus, it's a little fun to tease them about it too.  Sorry, Drew.

We've had quite the adventure with Alyssa and Drew as their engagement session will attest.  This time around we managed to get them lost among the trees in the Botanical Gardens in the Berkeley hills.  We've had so much fun working with these two throughout, and we're sure their marriage will be filled with a ton of fun and hopefully lots of tears of joy.  Congratulations, you two!

Alisha + Alan in Santa Margarita, CA

Prior to their wedding, we had spent a lot of time with Alisha and Alan - both during their engagement session in San Francisco and during our first consultation with them at a dive bar in Woodside.  So, given their vivacious personalities, we knew this was going to be a fantastic wedding.  Yet, even with our high expectations, we were blown away.  During his toast, Alisha's dad said there are only two types of people in the world: Italians and people who wished they were Italian.  I can't say that that is true, but I can say that these Italians sure know how to have a good time.  Then again, I am a sucker for those moments when ALL of the wedding guests squeeze onto the dance floor, clutching one another and swaying as they serenade the couple with "That's Amore."  Yep, that happened.

Alisha and Alan's wedding was at Santa Margarita Ranch just north of San Luis Obispo in central California.  The 13,900 acre ranch has a fully functioning train originally from Disneyland, a herd of cattle that were happy to join us for our wedding party portraits, and the barn for the reception came with its very own barn owl.

If there is one thing that I love, besides Adm, it is an adventure, and Alisha and Alan's wedding sure was that.

Jessica + Arpan Engagement

Jessica and Arpan joined us for our most recent engagement session escapade.  We started at Stinson Beach with their rowdy pups, Rooty and Pearl for a walk along the surf.  Next, we made our way to the hills above Tiburon for some photos at dusk, with a few quick stops at some of the breathtaking turnouts overlooking the Pacific Ocean.  I swear, the Northern California coastline is so dramatic with its cliffs and fog - Adm and I just count ourselves lucky that we get to spend our days with sweet couples like Jessica and Arpan photographing along the coast.

Lisa + Michael in Pleasanton, CA

You probably remember Lisa and Mike's engagement session that took place in Lisa's family's amazing nursery, yes?  Well, these two were just as much fun at their wedding, if not more so since they had their family and friends to cheer them on.  I don't normally think of weddings as events where people cheer, but I swear, everyone who attended their wedding was full of so much love and happiness for these two to tie the knot, that I got the sense they've been rooting for them all along throughout their relationship.  I'm a firm believer that we are shaped by the people we surround ourselves with and the community we choose to be a part of, and probably the best thing about witnessing Lisa and Mike's wedding was getting a glimpse into their community.  Their friends and family are clearly fun and goofy as well as full of respect for Lisa and Mike as individuals, and what couple could ask for a better foundation to draw support from as they enter their marriage?

Congratulations, Lisa and Mike!
